Data Sensitivity Information

What Data We Collect

Keystroke-Level Data
  • Every keystroke you type during exercises
  • Precise timing of each key press and release (millisecond precision)
  • Key sequences and typing patterns
  • Corrections and errors including backspaces and deletions
  • Typing rhythm and pause patterns between keystrokes
Performance Metrics
  • Words per minute (WPM) calculations
  • Accuracy percentages
  • Error patterns and frequencies
  • Learning progression over time

Why This Data Is Sensitive

Biometric Nature of Typing Patterns

Your typing patterns are as unique as your fingerprint. The way you type - including rhythm, pressure patterns, and key transition times - creates a distinctive "typing fingerprint" that can potentially:

  • Identify you across different platforms
  • Be used for behavioral biometric authentication
  • Reveal personal characteristics and habits
  • Indicate physical or cognitive states
Note: While we collect this data solely to help improve your typing skills, we recognize its sensitive nature and treat it with the highest level of security.

How We Protect Your Data

Mature Data Processing and Retention Practices
  • Encryption: All typing data is encrypted both in transit (HTTPS) and at rest in our databases
  • Access Control: Strict authorization policies limit data access to essential personnel only
  • Data Retention: Automated retention policies delete detailed keystroke data after 30 days (except for lessons requiring improvement)
  • Aggregation: Long-term analytics use aggregated statistics rather than raw keystroke data
  • Security Audits: Regular security assessments and privacy audits
  • No Third-Party Sharing: Your typing data is never shared with external parties

Your Rights and Control

You Have the Right To:
  • Access: Request a copy of all your typing data
  • Delete: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export: Download your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: Choose which types of data processing you consent to
  • Be Informed: Receive notifications about any changes to our data practices

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@typingsense.com

Beta Phase Notice

🚀 Beta Development Status

TypingSense is currently in Beta phase, which means:

  • We are actively improving our data protection measures
  • Security features are being enhanced based on user feedback
  • Data handling practices may evolve as we implement new features
  • We welcome your feedback on privacy and security concerns

Despite being in Beta, we maintain production-level security standards for all user data.

Why We Collect This Data

The detailed typing data we collect serves important purposes:

  • Personalized Learning: Generate lessons tailored to your specific weaknesses
  • Accurate Progress Tracking: Provide precise metrics on your improvement
  • Adaptive Difficulty: Adjust lesson difficulty based on your performance
  • Error Pattern Analysis: Identify and help correct recurring mistakes
  • Research: Improve our typing training algorithms (using anonymized data)
